ST. LOUIS, MO — As with many houses built in the early 20th century, this Tudor-style home was designed for more formal living, with numerous rooms that were small and dark. The current homeowners were interested in updating the home in a way that was more suited to their everyday family life while still maintaining the integrity of the design and its historical roots.
Mitchell Wall Architecture & Design in St. Louis, MO carefully chose colors, finishes and details to achieve a design that feels authentic yet fresh. Updating the home’s kitchen, bathrooms and home office/command center, the architecture firm incorporated traditional elements, distinctive details and soft, bright colors to give the home a more welcoming vibe.
The design of the space was inspired by the kitchen’s focal point – a bespoke Lacanche range in Anthracite with Brass trim – which is topped by a custom hood fabricated by Eureka Forge in a similar deep tone and Brass detailing.
Mike Beck of Beck/Allen Cabinetry in St. Louis, MO, created a custom door style from Crystal Cabinet Works in Repose Gray. Custom endcaps on the island provide traditional and elegant detailing, and Aura Stone quartz in Lincoln enhances the classic look of the space. ▪
