Disappearing Act

There is nothing ordinary about this white kitchen, which features ivory-toned flat-panel cabinets that deliver a sleek and modern style. The simple backdrop sets the stage for the dramatic statement made by the marble backsplash along the wall and on the perimeter top. Bright Wood Works was tasked with hiding away all of the room’s appliances, which was achieved using pocket doors that concealed even cooking appliances when they weren’t in use.
Along the back wall, base and upper cabinets – which reach all the way to the ceiling – are separated by the marble. Along the wall, a Blanco Silgranit sink is paired with a modern-style faucet from Delta Faucet along with a cold water faucet and Miele dishwasher. The cooking area features an induction cooktop and slimline hood, as well as white glass combi-steam oven, speed oven, convection oven and warming drawer, all from Miele. On the opposite end, a Miele built-in coffee maker and Liebherr wine refrigerator disappear behind pocket doors. A Miele refrigerator and freezer are paneled to blend into the design.
The island adds to the artful look of the space, repeating the marble on the countertop, sitting on top of a fluted base. A custom metal substructure had to be fabricated to support the stunning cantilevered top. Seating works at both the higher and lower levels of the countertop.
