RESTON, VA — Sales of kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, led by a continued drop in stock cabinet sales, posted the latest in a yearlong series of monthly declines in October, the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association reported.
According to the KCMA’s latest monthly “Trend of Business Survey,” released this week, participating manufacturers reported that overall cabinet and vanity sales in October were down 0.7% compared to the same month last year.
The October decline was fueled by a 21.4% plunge in sales of stock cabinets, according to the Reston, VA-based KCMA. In contrast, custom cabinet sales were up 8.1% over October of 2022, while sales of semi-custom cabinets rose 3%.
Year-to-date sales through October were down 1.6% compared to the same ten-month period in 2022, the KCMA said.
