ORANGE COUNTY, CA — The owners of this California canyon home wanted to play up a coastal atmosphere that incorporated their favorite color. “The client’s love of blue was the driver for the entire design concept,” notes Gina Hacken, owner and principal designer of Gina Lauren Interiors LLC in Orange County, CA, who was tasked with remodeling the kitchen, family room, powder room and master bath.
When the clients purchased the home, each room was a different color scheme, explains Hacken. “We wanted to update, unify and modernize each of these spaces to create easy flow between them,” she remarks. “The entire premise of the project was to update the interiors with modern finishes and materials.”
Hacken connected each room of the house by using the same color scheme of blues, whites and soft light white oak woods, contrasted with touches of brushed nickel, light gray and black. She also stayed true to the California Modern Coastal feel throughout the space. “It was important that each space have its own identity, yet work with the flow throughout the home,” she stresses. ▪
