Even though she majored in broadcast journalism at Oklahoma State University, Melissa Fitzgerald’s passion was always design. Following that dream, she moved to Denver and went back to school to become a kitchen and bath designer.
Fitzgerald worked for leading kitchen designers before returning to her home state of Oklahoma, where she is lead designer and owner of Kitchen Society Design in Oklahoma City. She now brings her design experience to her own business, guiding clients through the process of custom and luxury kitchen design.
Describing her style as classic modern, Fitzgerald gravitates toward classic details with character, while bringing in elements of modern design. She has an appreciation for well put-together, clean and simple spaces, and strives for functionality – along with beauty – making each project an individual thought-out work of art.
“Melissa enjoys a traditional kitchen with a modern twist. She envisions the space and completes it with a smart, sexy and edgy manner – traditional yet edgy,” says one colleague.
Fitzgerald has won several NKBA design awards, including the 2019 Most Dramatic Kitchen Makeover award.
