Tracy Grosspietsch, CKBR, UDCP, director of sales and design at AB&K Bath and Kitchen, in Greenfield, WI, has become a critical voice in promoting adaptive, positive change. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Grosspietsch moved to transform AB&K’s project sales, design and delivery system into a safer, well-documented experience. Pivoting from face-to-face meetings, Grosspietsch’s virtual project-management system, developed while the AB&K showroom was closed (apart from safety-enforced, appointment-only finish selection visits) is actually improving how designers, clients and contractors work together.
Creating and offering how-to videos for homeowners, including measuring space/dimensions, the industry pro leverages virtual guest spots on local TV/radio (The Morning Blend and NARI Home Improvement Show) to promote AB&K’s new sales/construction process. Training staff on Zoom herself, Grosspietsch has enabled a more flexible design team that can present design concepts/reviews, coordinate pricing/schedules and sign contracts through email, SMS, 3-D software, Zoom and FaceTime technology. AB&K’s construction site protocols include Porta-Potties, dust barriers and a masked, two-contractor limit.
Grosspietsch is successfully encouraging new ideas and solutions by establishing the AB&K staff as a leader in health/safety protocols, establishing AB&K staff members as creative problem solvers using technology to overcome challenges, and removing the fear barrier by creating a safe process for anxious homeowners.
