Tropical Laundry Room
Brooke Eversoll, CMKBD, Bee Studios, St. Petersburg, FL

This St. Petersburg Beach, FL laundry room lacked the character and color that its summery paradise surroundings provided in abundance. For Brooke Eversoll, CMKBD, updating the space meant delivering better storage, a proper sink and counter, and a cat litter spot, all in a fresh, lively design that reflected its tropical location.
The look of the room was of the utmost consideration, since it is a transition space from the garage into the residence and sits immediately adjacent to the dining room. The client provided the inspirational wallpaper, setting the tone for the design.
Eversoll focused first on the function of the space, adding the Whitehaven apron-front sink in White from Kohler and pairing it with the East Linear Antique Brass faucet from Newport Brass. She also created a hidden place for the litter box, a “key drop” area, a bench with storage and cushion and a hanging space for air drying.
Though the original design featured Walnut flooring that continued from the dining room, the designer suggested replacing it with Zaha 9 hand-painted terra cotta tile from Tabarka Studio in royal blue on off white for a more dynamic look as well as to provide better function for the wet space. Caesarstone’s Cloudburst Concrete engineered quartz enhanced the bright and airy look.
Using the wallpaper as inspiration, Eversoll chose the Seattle cabinet door style in Breeze and Shiplap decorative wall in Laguna, both from Holiday Kitchens. A patterned bench cushion and brass accents that coordinate with the faucet bring the design together. The result is a feast of pattern and color that balances beautifully within the space.

Outdoor Oasis
Christopher Grubb, Arch-Interiors Design Group, Beverly Hills, CA

Having remodeled the inside of this Southern California home, Christopher Grubb and the team at Arch-Interiors Design Group turned their attention to the outdoor space, where the homeowner was requesting an all-
encompassing retreat. The yard needed to include a salt water swimming pool, spa area, fire pit, shower and outdoor bar/kitchen, as well as ample space for lounging, sitting and dining. The client desired a space that would feel very natural, steeped in shades of sea-inspired blue and green that coordinated with the home’s awning material.
The fully functional kitchen includes refrigeration, grill and sink from Twin Eagles, and an area to mix cocktails. Overhead, a pergola helps define the space, and LED lighting delivers function and elegance for evenings.
The shower area includes a shower system from Signature Hardware, along with the Camden shower drain cover by Christopher Grubb for California Faucets. The iridescent tile in the shower, from Lunada Bay Tile, reflects the colors in the awning and is repeated in the pool and on the surrounds of the spa tub and firepit located on opposite ends of the pool. The tile is also showcased on the backsplash in the kitchen.

Shabby Chic Barn

This 3,200-sq.-ft. barn in Orangevale, CA is a working equestrian barn designed for an Olympic medal-winning equestrian family. Deanna Goguen and co-designer Sarah McGovern were tasked with creating a new barn that incorporated as much of the old, existing barn – and its character – as possible.
The new space had to provide modern conveniences while showcasing the clients’ love for reclaimed and reused materials. Wood from the old barn was used throughout the space, as well as reclaimed wood when original wood wasn’t available. The original trusses remained, and the original light fixtures from the old barn were reused.
The working kitchen was added to provide facilities for when horse clinics and other events are held. Shaker cabinets from J & C Custom Cabinets in a calming blue are paired with Belwith Cottage hardware and Fresh Concrete engineered quartz countertop from Caesarstone. An Avantco undercounter refrigerator and Whirlpool undercounter ice maker meet refrigeration needs.
Also included are a laundry room, grain/feed room, powder room and hay shed. Sinks from Whitehaus and American Standard are also featured within the barn, paired with faucets from Rubinet and Delta Faucet.
