When updating the space after 25 years, the homeowners with this master bath wanted an increased sense of space without poaching square footage from adjoining rooms and without changing the existing footprint of the house. In order to provide the desired feeling of spaciousness, Julie Evans and her team removed the tub and double-sink vanity, incorporating two separate matching floating vanities. Kick-lights under the floating vanities provide an airy, open aesthetic.
In order to give the space a fresh, updated atmosphere, a large stained-glass window was removed and replaced with a shorter window to allow the natural light in while maintaining privacy. Increased wall space in the master bath allows for the clients to display their art collection, while the Innovations Sabah wallpaper provides a neutral backdrop. The design team selected materials that would reflect the Colorado style that the homeowners favored, such as caramel-veined quartzite for the vanities and custom basketweave beveled glass subway tile for the shower. Luxurious touches such as a large walk-in shower featuring a Brizo Raincan showerhead and accompanying handshower impart a soothing, spa-like feel to the space.

In order to transform a standard 5’x8′ bathroom into the master suite of the client’s dreams, Danielle Walther and her team incorporated and extended an existing room above the garage. The enlarged space boasts a custom shower, a water closet, a large vanity with two sinks and a storage tower, electric heated floors and a luxurious cast iron claw foot tub (which, according to the designer, provided quite the challenge, requiring six people to carry it into the bathroom!).
Classic white featured on the Shaker cabinetry, walls and subway tile creates a timeless, airy atmosphere, aided by ample amounts of natural light coming from the large window behind the tub. According to Walther, the client had very particular taste where finishes were concerned, so high-quality fixtures and hardware were an absolute must. Gold accents from the lighting fixtures, mirrors, shower fixtures, faucets and hardware provide an eye-catching sparkle. The glass-enclosed shower features a tiled half-wall for privacy and allows the tub to take center stage as the focal point of the room. A light teal door adds a pop of color and a bit of unique charm to the space.

This master bath showcased all the hallmarks of a space badly in need of an update; dark and dated, it featured a small shower with an awkward door, a jet tub in an inconveniently large deck and dark red cherry cabinetry favored in the ‘90s. There was one small window above the tub that provided inadequate light through block glass.
The first order of business for Sara Lee was to work with a contractor to enlarge the window in a way that would work with the exterior of the home. The new large fixed window with electronic window tinting for privacy allows natural light to pour into the space and provides a view to a beautiful wooded area. Space was left in front of the focal point window for the possible addition of a tub at a later time.
The new spacious shower area is framed by fluted plinths that provide a classic feel. Custom 12″x24″ marble tile in the shower is paired with pebble tile on the floor, complemented by a simulated wood floor tile. The purposefully distressed cabinetry with Antique Brass DuVerre hardware and Ironsbridge Polished Cambria quartz countertops features a backdrop of organic-inspired wallpaper that nods back to the beautiful natural view from the window.
