The objective of this 750-sq.-ft. hot tub room was to marry the indoors and outdoors, as well as incorporate the architectural details of the Prairie Style, made famous by architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright. The clients wanted an entertaining and spa space that could accommodate an in-ground oversized hot tub and feel like an escape from the rest of the home without clashing with the design aesthetic. In addition, they wanted the room to take advantage of the breathtaking property views.
To maintain the connection to the outdoors, David Boronkay lined the back side of the room with fully retractable, oversized glass doors that can be fully opened in the warm weather and enclosed for indoor living in the cold. Inside, the entire space is clad in veneer stone, while the ceiling showcases a custom-
designed cedar trellis that adds a dramatic architectural touch. A double-sided, stone-clad fireplace connects the indoors to the outdoors and encapsulates the spa experience.
A built-in bar in the corner of the room is designed for entertaining guests and features Crown Point Cabinetry, Emtek hardware and Ocean Blue quartzite countertops. Miele appliances, a Franke sink and Kohler faucet are also included in the bar area.
