Much of the bathroom renovation in this 87-sq.-ft. coastal Pensacola Beach, FL condominium involved troubleshooting “transition challenges,” explained designer Cheryl Kees Clendenon. “With the condo ceilings accommodating six million other things like HVAC and sprinklers, we had to think outside the box. We designed a built-in soffit that afforded the necessary height to make the Hubbardton Forge Cairn pendant lights work. Carrying this soffit across the bathroom in the same ebony stain as the wall storage made it truly feel unified and part of the design.”
The wall storage area was discovered during demolition when a void was found in between the metal studs of the framing. This afforded a shallow built-in to be integrated into the wall, which was clad in wood that matched the Paulk Woodworking vanity and had a sliding door so it could be hidden away. On the vanity, the Iron Plains vessel sink by Kohler sits atop a Silestone Eternal Statuario quartz countertop from Cosentino, matched with a Levoir cross handle faucet from Brizo.
The client desired all walls to be tiled, and Clendenon, who worked with designer Liz Lapan, chose Porcelanosa’s Suede Taupe and Paradise Broken Edge Gris tiles. The Victoria + Albert Vetralla freestanding tub pairs with a Kohler Loure faucet, and the shower includes fittings from Brizo.
