In this Castle Rock, CO home, a choppy layout and oversized closet made this otherwise sufficiently sized 85-sq.-ft. bathroom feel cramped. To open up the space, designer Gina D’Amore Bauerle removed the closet and a secondary doorway separating the sink from the toilet, replacing them with the steel framed floating vanity with an oversized marble trough sink from Porcelanosa and Morrow Bay faucets by California Faucets.
The bathtub was removed as well, and replaced with a shower that features a solid stone shower pan from MTI Baths that provides a clean contemporary feel. A teak drain cover complements the warm wood tones from the vanity. Small white mosaic hex tiles from American Universal Corp. on the shower walls mimic the colorful wall mural created by Area Environments. Morrow Bay fittings are included in the bath, with accessories featured throughout the room. Warm toned Kauri ceramic plank floor tiles by Artistic Tile add interest and modernize the space.
An oversized backlit mirror by IB Mirrors emphasizes the ceiling height and adds dramatic lighting to the wall mural. Three Hammerton pendant lights hang asymmetrically over the toilet in the corner, adding more ambient lighting and playing off of the shapes in the wall mural.
