Moody Blues
Gina D’Amore Bauerle
D’Amore Interiors, Denver, CO
A 130-sq.-ft. bathroom with underutilized space and no natural light source got a moody steampunk makeover in this remodeled basement. Designer Gina D’Amore Bauerle relocated everything – with the exception of the water closet, which now has a Toto AP Washlet toilet – to create a better floorplan within this space.
A brilliant blue custom-color Cheshire clawfoot tub by Victoria + Albert sits where the vanity once was, and the previous tub location now houses the Trueform 60″ Contempo white concrete wall-mounted vanity top with integrated trough sink. Two wall-mounted California Faucets Steampunk Bay faucets turned the oversized sink into a double-use vanity.
The previous linen closet was converted into the new shower area, which features Mason brick tile from Ann Sacks in Poseidon, laid in a herringbone pattern. Trattino black limestone tile by Ann Sacks covers the floor and back vanity wall.
D’Amore designed the custom hand forged steel base from Charleston Forge to fit underneath the wall-mounted vanity top to add a lower storage shelf as well as a fun design twist. A RobernUplift illuminated medicine cabinet mounted above the sink provides additional toiletry storage, a charging station and a crisp light source. Hudson Valley Rousseau pendant lighting is featured above the vanity, while a Troy Lighting Conduit chandelier graces the tub area.
